When did you receive a SEED Grant and how has it impacted your business?

We received a SEED Grant in 2023, which has significantly impacted the growth and operations of Woodson Accounting & Financial Services (WAFS).

The grant allowed us to strengthen one of the most vital aspects of our business—client communication. As our firm expanded to serve clients nationwide, it became essential to ensure every call and inquiry was handled with professionalism and care. With the support of the SEED Grant, we were able to establish a partnership with a professional phone answering service, ensuring that no call is missed and that our clients' needs are met promptly and effectively.

This improvement has enhanced our operational efficiency and helped us deliver on our promise of accessibility, responsiveness, and high-quality financial service—no matter where our clients are located.

Jessica Woodson, CEO and Founder of Woodson Accounting & Financial Services (WAFS), formerly known as Woodson & Associates, leads a national tax, accounting, and financial advisory firm serving individuals, entrepreneurs, and businesses across industries such as healthcare, transportation, and construction.

Her journey into the financial industry was driven by a desire to help people reduce the anxiety often associated with taxes and financial management. With a passion for clarity and empowerment, she founded the firm to provide not only technical expertise but also peace of mind.

At WAFS, our vision is to build stronger businesses and more financially secure communities through education, access, and expert guidance. We are not just here to prepare returns—we’re here to support long-term financial wellness and generational success.

Our commitment goes beyond numbers. We believe in contributing to community improvement through accessible, honest, and strategic financial services that uplift those we serve.

Through WAFS, Jessica continues to lead with intention—delivering trusted solutions that help clients move from uncertainty to confidence in every stage of their financial journey.

What does being nominated for our MBE of the Year award mean to you?

Being nominated for one of your M/WBE awards is both an honor and a deeply humbling experience. It confirms that I am walking in alignment with the purpose God has placed on my life—to serve others through financial education, empowerment, and integrity.

This recognition is more than a milestone; it's a reminder that the work we do at Woodson Accounting & Financial Services (WAFS) is making a real difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities. As a woman- and minority-owned business, this nomination represents the resilience, faith, and dedication it takes to build something meaningful for myself and those we are called to serve.

It encourages me to keep going, showing up with excellence, and building a legacy rooted in service, impact, and purpose.
